For most folks, camping on flat ground is challenging enough, but these daredevils are out here sleeping on a 4,000-foot cliff face. Meet the brave souls embracing “Portaledge” camping—basically, tents dangling like ornaments from some of the world’s most terrifying cliffs. Their campsite? A vertical wall in the Arctic, where “don’t look down” takes on a whole new meaning.
Adventure photographer Gordon Wiltsie captured these breathtaking shots, risking his neck to snap climbers catching shut-eye amid plummeting rocks and icy gusts. For them, dangling above nothingness isn’t scary—it’s just another Tuesday. Who needs a campfire when you’ve got a view of the entire planet below your sleeping bag?
