Michael K. Williams, quien interpretó a Omar Little en la venerable serie de HBO The Wire y tuvo papeles en Boardwalk Empire, Bessie y Lovecraft Country, además de muchas otras películas y programas de televisión, trágicamente se fue inesperadamente a principios de septiembre de 2021 en circunstancias extrañas.
El creador del programa, David Simon, se refirió a The Wire como una “tragedia griega para el nuevo milenio”, y el novelista Nick Hornby lo describió como democrático y colorido, con representaciones de todos los aspectos de una sociedad corrupta, desde capos de la droga hasta traficantes, policías oficiales, políticos y maestros. Williams jugó un papel importante en The Wire como Omar Little.
