GEORGE WASHINGTON – $4.95 MILLION, MOUNT VERNON, VIRGINIA

The Founding Father of the United States of America and the first president of the country, George Washington, came from quite the affluent family in Virginia.

They owned plantations and had numerous slaves working for them. His house in Mount Vernon was a huge property with over 11,000 square feet of space. However, it was constructed as a farmhouse in 1735.

It was George Washington who kept the construction going to make the place bigger and bigger. The place had an outhouse, a whiskey distillery, and a stable too! Looks like life wasn’t so bad for the first president of the States.
