A Week-Long Fury of Fire

The fire from the nuclear explosion continued its devastation for more than a week. The Chernobyl nuclear disaster is considered to be one of the most lethal mistakes committed by the Soviet Union in its history, and a huge number of people were brought in to fight the ravaging fire. Soldiers dropped down in Chernobyl without being fully equipped to protect themselves from the radioactive effects. Along with the soldiers, the firefighters also died of cancer or were left with bodies that were completely deformed. Neither a doctor nor a proper health insurance plan could save them from the tragedy.
