35 Years After The Chernobyl Disaster – This Is What It Looks Like Today

The Nearby Residents of Chernobyl Today

After the nuclear meltdown in 1986, some families made their way back to their villages near the Chernobyl contamination area. About 1000 women and kids returned to the exclusion zone some months after the explosion took place. These families had their roots in Pripyat, and they couldn’t afford to stay away for long and probably never worried about not having a lawyer who could fight for them. They would have been happy to die at a place where they called home and never thought twice before moving back. Today’s estimation reveals that around 100 people still reside there and have been lucky enough to be able to wage a war against the radiation in their bodies.
