35 Years After The Chernobyl Disaster – This Is What It Looks Like Today

People Died During Clean-Up Efforts Too

This photo explains something different. Several small dosimeters can still be found and in an inoperable condition on the grounds of Pripyat. Used largely for measuring radiation dosage, these devices were used mostly by workers to clean the area in the aftermath of the accident. The fact that these lie scattered clearly points to the fact how perils lurked largely even when cleanup activities were carried on. Several people actually lost their lives during the clean-up activities, and their health insurance plans barely came to use. These devices resemble the ones provided to Chernobyl-based tourists.
