Renée Soutendijk’s reis naar het acteervak begon op onverwachte wijze, aangezien haar eerste ambities lagen in het nastreven van een Olympische carrière in de gymnastiek. Een suggestie van haar dansleraar om de podiumkunsten te ontdekken leidde echter tot een koerswijziging die haar naar het witte doek zou brengen. Sindsdien heeft het internationale publiek genoten van Soutendijk’s veelzijdigheid als actrice, vooral dankzij haar nauwe samenwerking met regisseur Paul Verhoeven. Ze werd al snel een iconische verschijning en sekssymbool, zowel in Nederland als in Duitsland. Van rollen in populaire televisieseries als Tatort, Meiden van Ee Wit, en Moordvrouw tot onvergetelijke filmoptredens in Spetters en De vierde man, heeft haar werk diepe indruk gemaakt. Met haar inmiddels 67 jaar blijft ze nog altijd stralen en zet ze haar passie met onverminderde energie voort.
