El pastor de Anatolia es un perro pequeño, que mide solo unos 80 centímetros en los hombros, pero puede pesar hasta 70 kilogramos debido a su físico poderoso. Estos caninos son muy talentosos y capaces de encontrar soluciones a los problemas rápidamente porque fueron criados para cuidar rebaños. Los predecesores de Anatolia se remontan a la Edad del Bronce, hace aproximadamente 6000 años. Estos antepasados se encuentran entre los perros domésticos antiguos más conocidos. Algunas personas continúan manteniendo su larga reputación de ser excelentes perros guardianes. Debido a su actitud amistosa hacia las personas nuevas, es esencial que estos perros se socialicen desde que aún son cachorros. Es posible que reconozca la apariencia de la raza de perro que se describe a continuación, pero es posible que tenga dificultades para pronunciar su nombre.
