Former NBA Players Who Surprised Everyone With Their Choice of Jobs After Retirement

Charlie Ward – Head Coach

Even after picking up the Heisman Trophy while at Florida State, Charlie Ward was not selected for the NFL. As a result, he turned his attention to NBA where he went on to play 11 seasons, mostly with the Knicks. After his successful NBA career, he bid adieu to it in 2015, and thought of giving coaching a try.

He began his life with high school coaching jobs and then began his journey as the head basketball coach at Booker T. Washington High School. His second innings in his coaching career is certainly going great as now he is trying his hand at Florida State University’s Developmental Research School.

Well, he gets to stay close to his beloved game and hone the skills of the budding players, certainly a win-win for him! He is not planning to retire from coaching just yet.
