USS Los Angeles
The USS Los Angeles was the leader of the Los Angeles-class attack submarines, which formed the backbone of the U.S. Navy’s submarine fleet for decades. Launched on April 6, 1974, from the city it was named after, this iconic sub served until February 4, 2011, making it the oldest submarine in service at the time.
The USS Los Angeles is known for its speed and stealth and also played a crucial role in the Navy’s strategic operations for nearly 37 years. Although it’s now been recycled, its influence is still felt, as the Los Angeles-class submarines continue to be a symbol of naval excellence and innovation.
