From Battleship Classics to High-Tech Terrors, These Warships Bring the Heat!
USS Emory S. Land
When submarines are out on long, secretive missions, they don’t always have the luxury of returning to base if something breaks. Enter the USS Emory S. Land (AS-39), the U.S. Navy’s lead submarine tender. This ship is like a floating small town, complete with over 50 specialized shops for repairs and a manufacturing plant loaded with spare parts.
But it doesn’t stop there. The Emory S. Land provides more than just hardware fixes—sub crews can get medical and dental care, legal assistance, and even mail. The ship also supplies essentials like food and water, ensuring submariners have everything they need while far from home.
