“The Land of Fire and Ice:” Exploring the Wonders of Iceland
YOU’RE WARNED!
Haukadalur Geothermal Area in Iceland is a reminder of the power of nature and the fragility of humankind’s own mortality. It is the site of the world’s first-known geyser, derived from the name of the great Geysir. A warning sign greets visitors to the area, reminding them of the potential dangers.
The area is now home to a variety of thermal features, from boiling mud pots, spouting geysers, and explosive water spouts, with Geysir being the most famous site, which is visited by people from around the world. Geysir is a magnificent sight to behold and visitors to the area can be sure to witness a spectacle of nature’s powers.
