Brodie, qui avait 11 ans à l’époque, n’était pas intéressé à trouver un trésor perdu depuis longtemps; il espérait plutôt ramener du poisson ce jour-là. Il avait hâte de tester sa toute nouvelle canne à pêche, mais il n’était pas tout à fait prêt pour l’aventure qui allait se dérouler devant lui.
Parce qu’il débutait dans le sport de la pêche, il n’avait aucune idée du nombre de mystères cachés sous le fond du lac Hartwell. Brodie était sûr dès le début que son premier voyage dans la mer mènerait à quelque chose de grand, et bien sûr, il l’a fait, mais pas de la manière qu’il avait imaginée.
