Humphrey Bogart is not just an actor but he is also a cultural icon. After a series of movies where he played the role of a gangster, he did Casablanca. It was his first romantic movie where he starred alongside Ingrid Bergman, and to this day, the movie is considered as a cult classic. The film established Bogart as the highest paid actor in the world. He met Lauren Bacall when he was shooting for To Have Or Have Not. Their attraction was mutual, and it was the beginning of many more movies as well as a lifetime of partnership. The two were married in 1945 and stayed so till Bogart’s death in 1957. He died of esophageal cancer and his last few days proved to be terribly painful. Despite having the best health insurance, he was not spared from the effects of cancer. His funeral was a small affair but was attended by the biggest stars of Hollywood.
