The Failure of the Safety System

If the safety system would have been in place and properly functioning, Chernobyl wouldn’t have witnessed such a large-scale disaster. Needless to say, the tragedy could have been averted if people in charge of the power plant would have been more cautious and more focused on the consequences. An emergency core cooling system was attached to the reactors which prevented the nuclear debris from getting overheated. Experts believe that if the system hadn’t been switched off during the test, the explosion could have been easily avoided.
