The USS Nimitz was launched on May 13, 1972, as the first of its class and it truly revolutionized modern warships. As one of the largest aircraft carriers in the world, it operates with an impressive advanced nuclear core, and has only been refueled only once during its nearly 50-year service—talk about efficiency!
The Nimitz, also known as “Old Salt” has played a massive role in U.S. military operations, hosting a crew of around 6,000 dedicated personnel. As a floating city, packed with power and technology, it’s basically a force to be reckoned with on the seas. This legendary ship has set the standard for military might and innovation for decades.
