USS Enterprise CVN-65

The USS Enterprise (CVN-65) is one of the most iconic ships in the United States Navy. Also known as “Big E,” this vessel was the world’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and, at 1,123 feet long, remains the longest naval ship ever built.

The Enterprise was commissioned on November 25, 1961, and served for nearly 56 years before it was decommissioned on February 3, 2017. Its influence also extends to pop culture, as it inspired the famous starship in “Star Trek” and made a cameo in “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.” Though it’s no longer active, the Enterprise paved the way for its successor, the USS Gerald R. Ford.
