USS Somerset

The USS Somerset is a symbol of resilience. It is one of eleven San Antonio-class amphibious transport docks built to carry Marines, armored vehicles, and aircraft wherever needed, whether during conflict or peacetime. Far from any regular ship, the Somerset honors the bravery of the passengers aboard United Airlines Flight 93 during the 9/11 attacks.

The ship was named after Somerset County, Pennsylvania—where the flight heroically crashed, preventing further destruction—so it carries a powerful legacy. About 22 tons of steel from a crane near the crash site were used in its construction, making it a moving tribute to those who sacrificed their lives.
