USS Delbert D. Black DDG-119

The USS Delbert D. Black, named after Master Chief Petty Officer Delbert Black—the first Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy—honors his legacy with pride. After years of advocacy by MCPONs to commemorate him, this Arleigh Burke-class destroyer was launched on September 8, 2017, and commissioned on September 26, 2020.

At 513 feet long and displacing 9,200 long tons, it’s a force to be reckoned with. The Delbert D. Black packs serious firepower, including a 5-inch Mk 45 naval gun, two 25 mm autocannons, four .50 cal machine guns, a 20 mm Phalanx CIWS, torpedo tubes, a 96-cell Mk 41 VLS, and two SH-60 Seahawk helicopters.
