USS Vermont SSN-792

The USS Vermont (SSN-792) is a Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarine and the third Navy vessel to honor the state of Vermont. Launched on October 20, 2018, and commissioned on April 18, 2020, the submarine had a unique christening—using a bottle of Vermont sparkling apple wine!

Weighing in at 7,800 tons and stretching 377 feet, this vessel can stay submerged indefinitely as long as it’s properly maintained and stocked with supplies. The Vermont is also armed with 12 vertical launch system (VLS) tubes, four 21-inch torpedo tubes for MK-48 torpedoes, and BGM-109 Tomahawk missiles, making it a formidable force lurking beneath the waves.
