USS Paul Ignatius DDG-117

The USS Paul Ignatius (DDG-117) is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer named after Paul Ignatius, former U.S. Secretary of the Navy and a WWII Navy lieutenant. It’s the second of eight planned Flight IIA “technology insertion” ships, which possess elements from the advanced Flight III ships.

Launched on November 12, 2016, and commissioned on July 27, 2019, this ship is 510 feet long and displaces 9,200 tons. It’s also armed to the teeth with a 5-inch Mk 45 naval gun, two 25 mm Mk 38 autocannons, four .50 cal machine guns, a Phalanx CIWS, torpedo tubes, a 96-cell Mk 41 VLS, and two SH-60 Seahawk helicopters.
